“Germany- Land of Ideas“ is a mutual location initiative of the Federal Government and the German economy represented by the federal association of German industry. It is the aim of the initiative to convey an image of Germany as an innovative, cosmopolitan and enthusiastic country at home and abroad. Patron of the initiative is Federal President Horst Köhler. “365 places in the land of ideas“ is realised in cooperation with Deutsche Bank, which is also official partner of “Germany-Land of Ideas“. From the 01 January to the 31 December 2006 each day a winner of the competition is going to present itself to the public. On top of that the Land of Ideas- travel guide has developped in cooperation with the DuMont- publishing house. It presents the locations and invites to do a journey of discovery through Germany. PRITZWALK The glory of the soccer year 2006 shines to the Prignitz, more precisely to Pritzwalk. Tribute should be payed to the world event with a special day nationwide and in chosen regions of Brandenburg also outside the stadions. Therefore a competition was advertised by the specially brought to life initiative FC Deutschland GmbH under the motto “365 places in the land of ideas“ and nine applicants from Brandenburg where chosen.
The Bildungsgesellschaft mbH Pritzwalk belongs to them. With the date 30 November 2006 it does come at the end of the group but manager Werner Schulze does not see a disadvantage in it. Just when the great soccer fever has gone, Pritzwalk should enjoy an even bigger attention. The year only has 365 days on which soccer is moved in some way to the centre of attention over and above sports in scientific, economical and cultural areas.
Bridge from history to the future
The construction of the former textile factory, in which walls young people gain the knowledge for professions today, is suited well to build a bridge from historically valuable to the future, says the manager.
The foundation Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung (BIP), the ministry of education, the upper school centre, the cooperation companies of the region and the register location of the higher education institution Brandenburg are working at a concept for this day in November. By now it is known, that there will be an open day, on which trainers, apprentices and guests can get into contact with personalities of the public life.
It is also thought of a workshop called “development of a new generation of qualified employees for local enterprises“. It follows that this day of ideas should be an attraction point for the whole region. A special character gets the event also by further highlights in the city near the river Dömnitz- which 750 years existance and the 15th anniversary of the educational school take place in October.
All this is the occasion for even more motivation, says Werner Schulze. The manager of the educational company can be rightly proud: After all 1200 instutions applied for their contribution to the initiative “Germany- Land of ideas“. Pritzwalk finds itself in a fine neighbourhood such as the Einstein Forum Potsdam or the international construction exhibition Fürst Pückler Land GmbH. Manager Werner Schulze considers obtaining the contract for the educational place Pritzwalk as a „chosen place 2006“ for example as an appreciation for the commendation by the ministry of employment of Brandenburg within the „regional cooperation for places to train“.
Soon more detailed arrangements
Werner Schulze assumes that the jury, responsible for the choice of places, soon will come to Pritzwalk for further arrangements and that they will bring advertising material.

PRITZWALK PRITZWALK Since yesterday everyone entering the Bildungsgesellschaft Pritzwalk GmbH is able to read it on a mint green ground over colourful blooms: “Germany- Land of Ideas“.
The house An Der Promenade presents itself under this motto as “chosen place“ in the year of the World Football Championship and wants to show that even outside the stadions creative people spread the reputation of the country all over the world.
Ira Bartels, deputy director of Deutsche Bank in Potsdam, handed the roll of honour over to Werner Schulze, manager of the educational company in Pritzwalk, in the technology hall in the presence of representitives of politics and economy, among them SPD-member of the Bundestag Ernst Bahr, mayor Wolfgang Brockmann and Mario Talkowski from the regional centre of the chamber of commerce- the latter as initiator. Ira Bartels honoured the by now single initiative of the government and economy, which was brought to life by the FC Deutschland GmbH.
Werner Schulze reminded that the educational company belongs to those 1200 applicants, who submitted their concept to present their motivation and creativity in scientific, economical and cultural areas. One of nine organizers in Brandenburg is the educational company of Pritzwalk. The manager wants the day to be understood as a bridge between the history in the venerable walls of the former textile factory of the family Quandt and the formation of a highly educated generation. Already in 2003/2004 the house An der Promenade has broken new ground with the vocational initiative Pritzwalk, says Schulze. By training talented apprentices as leaders in enterprises the educational school made steps to counteract the foreseeable lack of qualified employees for the long-term.
Mayor Wolfgang Bockmann considers the event at the “chosen place“ on the 30 November 2006 as a part of a series of highlights in the course of the jubilee “750 years Pritzwalk“.
For Ernst Bahr the appreciation is the proof that people can life, work and be trained in rural areas like the Prignitz if the necessary will is given.

An exote at the “chosen place“
Mayor plants tulip tree at the Bildungsgesellschaft mbH Pritzwalk

PRITZWALK Since yesterday a tulip tree, not to confuse with a magnolia as Bernd Blumenthal from the equally called plant centre in Putlitz marked, has been growing at the ground of the Bildungsgesellschaft mbH Pritzwalk. His company organized the indigenous Northamerican tree, which was planted by mayor Wolfgang Brockmann.
The event puts in the group of plans of the eductional school under the motto “Chosen Place in the Land of Ideas“ on the occasion of the World Football Championship 2006. The participants do have to wait for the actual day- the 30 November 2006 has been chosen- but the whole year takes place against the background of different projects.
As the MAZ reported the educational school of Pritzwalk obtained the contract as “chosen place“ under 1200 applicants from the whole republic. After all Pritzwalk finds itself at the same level as the porcelain manufactory Meißen of the “Forum Grüne Stadt“ Düsseldorf. The latter worked as a sponsor for the other 364 places in the Land of Ideas and thus ensured the planting of one tree in each city. The choice was left up to the respective participants. The „Forum“ has celebrated its special day already on the 14 February in the house of Deutsche Bank in Düsseldorf. Deutsche Bank, which means its offices in Potsdam, went into action in the city near the river Dömnitz when handing over the roll of honour for the „chosen place“ on the 21 March. Meanwhile the roll was fastened at the houses entrance.
When planting the tree the manager of the educational school Pritzwalk Werner Schulze reminded of the history of the brick building in which the textile industrialists Draeger/Quandt contributed to the economical flourishing of the city near the Dömnitz 100 years ago and also drew the line to the present where young people are trained and motivated for their life in the same rooms. In the educationl school young people get the qualification to proof their economical potential in regional and supra-regional enterprises- also against the background of the relatively new cooperation with the college Brandenburg.
Wolfgang Brockmann is convinced that the here collected knowledge of the future experts will root as well as the young tree.
